Bag Lady Bags (BLB) is the brainchild of environmental activist and actress Q’orianka Kilcher and was inspired by a special old homeless BAG LADY…. living on the streets of Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, CA.

Q’orianka Kilcher is an accomplished and award winning actress, singer and dancer. She is an ardent supporter of human rights and environmental responsibility, and has used her celebrity status and her resources to bring attention to these issues and help bring about positive change. Q’orianka is the founder of on-Q Initiaive, a youth organization dedicated to Environmental and Human Rights.

Newly launched in the Spring of 2009, BLB is a non profit ‘on-Q initiative’ community project, inspired by the need for a permanent solution to the problem of homelessness in our communities.

We are currently in the outreach and training stages, seeking to work directly with homeless women, women in homeless and domestic abuse shelters, as well as senior citizens who have a need for additional income to prevent homelessness.

BLB’s ‘Bag Ladies’ are encouraged to “Pay it Forward” and mentor others to join BLB.

We are currently looking for Senior Citizens who know how to crochet and knit to join our outreach training force. Senior Centers wishing to collaborate are welcome to contact us as well.

BLB bags will soon be available online as well as in several boutique stores within the Los Angeles, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills area !
